In celebration of International Dark Sky Week 2022, we will be hosting a photography competition to bring awareness to the importance of preserving the beautiful night sky that we enjoy here in Tasmania.
Entrants will be asked to submit one photograph of your choosing that heavily features the night sky, that was taken from a location in Tasmania, within the last 5 years. This competition will be an excellent opportunity to share your experiences with Tasmania’s nocturnal beauty and highlight the importance of the continued visibility of the night sky to you.
The winner of this competition will receive an awesome prize pack. Keep an eye out on our social pages for further details on the prizes closer to the final submission date. Finalists will also have their photographs shared on Dark Sky Tasmania platforms.
Entry Period:
The competition submission window opens on the 13th of March 2022 and will close on the 22nd of April 2022, the first day to align with the last day of International Dark Sky Week 2022. The winner will be announced on the final of day of International Dark Sky Week, the 30th of April.
Please submit your photograph through the following form. Submissions are free of charge.
Contest details:
Contestants will only be able to submit one photograph
Your submission must be smaller than 10mb (finalists will be contacted and required to send a full resolution copy of their image)
The photograph must not be watermarked (for blind judging purposes)
The photograph must be submitted as a JPEG
Contestants must be the sole owner of the photograph
The competition is free to enter
All photographs should follow ethical dark sky and wildlife photography practices (this includes adhering to local access regulations and no harm caused to wildlife)
Judging:
A panel of photographers and light pollution advocates has been created to judge the submission. During the judging period the contestants will remain anonymous.
